Digesting the lowest rung of pop culture so you don't have to!
Did you know that Disney was releasing Winnie the Pooh this weekend? I almost didn’t realize it either. I remember hearing about the film last summer, but I have heard little-to-nothing since. There has been almost no promotion from what I have seen thus far. Why is this? Does Disney have no faith in it because it doesn’t fit the mold of what’s “kewl” and isn’t another computer animated movie with some jive talking walrus who farts pop culture references?
This should be a tent-pole picture, and Disney should be going all-out to promote it. Winnie the Pooh can be a huge film appealing to all ages. I firmly believe it can pull off what Toy Story 3 did last year. I cannot comprehend the lack of publicity this film is getting.
It almost seems like they want to bury it and/or secretly want it to fail. I know what you are thinking. Nick, why would Disney want to see one of their own films fail? True, perhaps I am looking too deep into things. However, when considering the low-key promotional push, why on Earth did they schedule it against the final Harry Potter film?
